As for me - I lived in Barcelona for over ten years, and frequently return to discover new places and foods. I look for small businesses that have been there for decades and that produce wonderful foods, based on family traditions and honest ingredients, and dishes and recipes that are woven into the fabric of the city, but are often overlooked - either because they're outside of the city's touristic center, or because the names or ingredients are unknown and unfamiliar to those who visit.
With this guide, I hope to encourage you to explore Barcelona's hidden kitchens on your journey here, and step outside of your comfort zone every once in a while. My wish is that you leave with a new appreciation for this city's culinary history and its food traditions, and one step closer to the heart of the habitants of this beautiful city.
And why not jot down your own experiences, discoveries and impressions in one of your dedicated travel journals? We've designed Barcelona specific travel journals with the help of local artists. Take a look!
